I thought it better to reply by correspondence to your most recent text message. My motivation is to provide a meaningful reply to an emotional encounter with, Herodias.

Having been an employer myself, I can fully appreciate you coming to the defense of your loyal employee. I’m sure you are well aware of the maxim of business, “The customer is always right.” A lot of folks believe that, and I did, too.

However, after twenty-six years erecting and operating a business in Oregon, three years in business in Japan, and three years developing and managing the delivery service for Full Circle Farm, it is my observation, experience, and conclusion that the customer is not always right, nor is the proprietor always right—that would be to view them as a seeable lawgiver (idol). Rather, the truth (truth is a Person) is always right, and it is from that foundation I will share my view of reality.

America in her 200-year founding era (1620-1820) is evidence of a body of people who astonished the world in the art of thinking, and that governmentally. Thinking is literally a life or death skill—life being the freeman and death being the slavish mentality. Either by force or threat of force, being subject to the will of another is a form of slavery. Slavery or indentured servitude through bureaucratic agencies is not the American way, except as punishment for a crime.

Today’s America is grossly immature—a slave to the dictates of agencies foreign to our American way of life of self-government. America is unable to solve a national problem with honor as an example of national maturity and national security in the neighborhood of nations.

It is not news. America is ill unto death of the true American Dream—self-governance.

Mr. James B. Rose is the first man outside my father in an echelon of men who’ve influenced the course and direction of my life for good. James Rose was to me a friend, counselor, spiritual father, and master teacher of America’s Christian history, government, and education. What I heard, embodied in this man, I was not satisfied to limit to a classroom or lecture. James Rose was a man to pursue, and I did so while also embracing his family—thank you for the hospitality, Barbara—and his ministry associates.

American patriots who choose to educate their children in public schools desire instruction in the principles and values of the Founding Fathers. Yet rarely do we think of a Founding Father connected with the education responsible for defining and producing a free people—a free nation.

Do you want to truly understand and appreciate what America stands for? Life and liberty are war, conflict, and hardship. Ease, comfort, and passivity are not the American way. Excessive consumption of games and entertainment is not the breakfast of champions. The character of a free people, a free nation is born out of persevering in adversity, trials, and difficulty.
